my poetry
animal farm.

i remember exactly what you called this; a house of cards
it is not/ this is unity, a motivational conflagration inside each one of us
this is not the wooden stool for you to sit upon
one will not find tentacles of bone
no this is strong, this is sturdy/stable
this is steel.
We have bridged our gap from dream to reality and paved it
for everyone but ourselves.

we began with outstretched wings/ and thoughtss of distant,
befitting things/ with no word of predetermined vice
we stood our ground/ held strong/ painted our imaginations on the faces of our enemies/
then waited for the aftermath to pass, before we took our breath upon ourselves
and looked around to see/ just how powerful anger can be
and what hesitated exultation will follow
we shadowed our glory with quickening haste
simple dances, riverruns, a happy labor
to keep our pride from waste

yet it stands a stranger before me
as why we set apart the open pain of it
which crept up behind
pushing plows, discarding tablecloths (sheets)
building power out of armies of animals
not windmills exactly
what all will at some point
has already
left a tattered rag of frustration before us all
we clean up spoiled milk and work again
without the help
as knowing what it is to be backstabbed
creating razorback spines laced with barbed wire
preventing furthermore
and packing your bags to leave
all the while knowing that
in the end
you've accomplished nothing.
